LHC

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is the world’s largest and highest-energy particle accelerator complex, intended to collide opposing beams of protons charged with approximately 7 TeVs of energy. Its main purpose is to explore the validity and limitations of the Standard Model, the current theoretical picture for particle physics. It is theorized the collider will produce the elusive Higgs boson, the observation of which could confirm the predictions and missing links in the Standard Model of physics and could explain how other elementary particles acquire properties such as mass.

Hey it’s the Anniversary of the first ascent of Mount Everest. On certain occasions Google’s logo changes to the current event of the day.

My notes at Google Notebook

Posted by: Ryman    in Geek Alert, Net Escape

My Google Notebook add-on in my Firefox browser just updated. I haven’t been using it for a while since I began using Google Reader and conveniently “starred” the news or clips I like. I want to revive using this simple extension since it’s so convenient to note things that you find in the web. I started using Google Notebook in unison with iGoogle. My feed aggregator was iGoogle, and my notepad is Google Notebook.

Once installed in your browser, adding a note is simple. Just select (highlight) a piece of text from a website, then right click and select Note This. And that’s it, the note, including the whole URL of the website is added for reference. If you open your Notebook, you can edit the entries, add labels, and sort them out. My primary reason why I use Google Notebook is that I can virtually access all my notes on another computer.

Another interesting note is that if you use Google Bookmarks, the labels you use on it to organize your bookmarks appears on Google Notebook as well.

I’m re-organizing some notes on my Google Notebook, so there are some stuff I have to remove. I’ll use this entry to post the things that I’ve removed in case I need to find it some other time. And maybe some of you may also find it useful.

New stuff (virtual)

Posted by: Ryman    in Net Escape

New stuff around the net that I’ve noticed lately. I don’t know if they are still new as I’ve only noticed them a couple of days ago.

Friendster widgets. I noticed this earlier today, after I logged in to my Friendster account. I haven’t tried it yet but we can expect a lot of Friendster profiles becoming to look like MySpace. I just don’t like that messy profiles with lots of videos and moving graphics. That’s one of a web designers’ worst nightmare.

Google Reader now has top recommendations for you. Well I just noticed this now after opening my Google Reader account. Apparently it shows recommendations based on my subscribe feeds or something else, hmmm like, my most read feeds. I don’t know.

Also they moved their icons to the right. I’m not sure on this, probably I’m just seeing things.

Mozilla Firefox, updated their browser to 2.0.0.11. If I remember correctly they just updated to .10 a couple of days ago. I’m still using version 2 since version 3 beta has a lot of bugs and the memory leak is still not fixed.

Yahoo! Messenger beta 9 is bugged with what I call, WOOF (window out of focus). So if I’m typing, watching, or playing a game on my PC, I’m not online on my YM. I’m planning to downgrade back to the stable version 8 for the meantime. And there’s also that bug on the scroll bar.

Those who are offline at the time of the screencap, is hidden. Like I said, I don’t like messy things, even on my app windows.
