Belldandy figurine

Posted by: Ryman    in Anime Nation, Personal Items

As usual I’ve been busy with a lot of “extracurricular activities” that I have barely enough time to create a post here. And since I’m already going out, I’ll just post a quick one. Nothing special, I’m just showing you my Belldandy figurine I bought last year.

Belldandy figurine
She’s my angel and goddess.

Looking back on my previous entires, I have a lot of posts that I tagged Belldandy. A quick search for the keyword Belldandy reveals the posts I mentioned her. There was the desktop meme, the custom Belldandy theme of my computer, and of course her bio.

Belldandy on my desktop

Posted by: Ryman    in Anime Nation, Geek Alert

Belldandy is a common sight in my desktop. From the moment I login, to the time I use some of the softwares installed in my PC. But how many Belldandy are there in my computer? Let’s see…

First is my login screen which has both (admin & guest) a Belldandy face icon. My PC name is Belldandy (seen at lower left).

My desktop on my administrator account. Neat and clean, and without any desktop icons.

My desktop on my guest account. Using a Windows Vista theme with an open Start menu.

The System Properties on My Computer, customized with a Belldandy image. I removed my registration info along with my system specs (for privacy).

And now for those softwares with customizable backgrounds and skins. Starting off with Media Player Classic, my alternative media player. It loads faster and uses less memory than the standard Windows Media Player. You can change the default background of MPC.

My download manager, FlashGet also has a customizable background. I use a download manager when downloading a lot of stuff from a specific website. I can leech all the links quickly. Like those PDF graphic novels of Heroes at Wikipedia.

My outdated Nero (I think it’s version 6), customized with a lovely background. Nero is my primary DVD/CD burning software. I also use it to create clips of videos or slide shows of photos.

And finally the most used software on my PC, the ultimate media/audio player, Winamp. I found this Belldandy/Ah! My Goddess skin a long time ago, back when Winamp was still version 3. I forgot where I got it, but I use it until now.

That’s all i can find on my desktop, and it doesn’t include the customized screen saver with lots of Belldandy pics. But enough of that. Next time I will show you Belldandy outside of my PC.

Desktop Free View

Posted by: Ryman    in Net Escape, Things Forwarded

Finally I got some time to do this. I was tagged by Sarah to do this desktop screenie thing. And to those I mentioned after this, you’ll have to do the following.

  1. Upon receiving this tag, immediately perform a screen capture of your desktop. It is best that no icons be deleted before the screen capture so as to add to the element of fun. You can do a screen capture by:
    1. Going to your desktop and pressing the Print Scrn key (located on the right side of the F12 key).
    2. Open a graphics program (like Picture Manager, Paint, or Photoshop) and do a Paste (CTRL + V).
    3. If you wish, you can “edit” the image, before saving it.
  2. Post the picture in your blog. You can also give a short explanation on the look of your desktop just below it if you want. You can explain why you preferred such look or why is it full of icons. Things like that.
  3. Tag five of your friends and ask them to give you a Free View of their desktop as well.
  4. Add your name to this list of Free Viewers with a link pointing directly to your Desktop Free View post to promote it to succeeding participants.

Ok, so here’s my current desktop…

I don’t have any shortcut icons on my desktop, that’s because I don’t like it messy and I don’t want to cover Belldandy. Yes, that’s her from the manga/anime Ah! My Goddess (Ah! Megami Sama). It’s somewhat childish or girlish, but hey she’s my most favorite anime character. That wallpaper has been in my desktop for, I think, more than two years now. The screenshot is recent, but I’ve already posted that on the “Post Your Desktop” thread at Darkmoon since April last year, so it hasn’t changed until now. The Belldandy on the right is the skin of my Winamp media player.

There are no desktop icons, so I should just name the icons on the system tray and quick launch toolbar.

I don’t want many programs running in the background that’s why my system tray has only a few items (from left to right).

  • That blue monitors is my uber-slow Internet connection at home.
  • The smiley is the Yahoo! Messenger. I’m always online. Well, not really.
  • Winamp media player, it’s open 95% of the time my computer is running. It’s always playing even when I’m downstairs or sleeping.
  • The red circle is my anti-virus/firewall software BitDefender.
  • Lastly, the volume controls. I just use it to adjust the Mega Bass function of my soundcard because when I play a DVD video, the audio sounds like its breaking… sometimes.

My quick launch toolbar contains programs that I mostly use when I’m connected to the Internet (from left to right).

  • Mozilla Firefox. My most used and favorite web browser.
  • Internet Explorer. Just to check and view my website if IT IS PROPERLY ALIGNED AND THE LAYOUT IS NOT MESSED UP. Stupid IE.
  • Outlook Express. This is where all my POP3/SMTP email accounts are contained. I’m planning to switch to Mozilla Thunderbird, because you know Microsoft products contains lots of security risks.

Other shortcuts that are found in my quick launch toolbar are: Azureus, Bit Che, RapidUploader, MSN/Live Messenger, Frostwire, ImTOO YouTube, FeedReader, Google Talk, Yahoo Messenger, FlashGet, and Website Submitter.

Done. Now I’m tagging Gwacie, Erika, KC, Khate, and Randy it’s your turn.

The people who participated in this meme are

Anime Fanatic but not an Addict

Posted by: Ryman    in Anime Nation, J Culture

I’m an Anime fan. And that’s a fact. I’m not really addicted to Anime, but I really like it. Since I started learning about Anime back when I was still a single-digit-aged person, it has become my passion to watch each and every episode of what Anime I’m currently hooked on to. The oldest Anime I can remember was Daimos and Voltes V. It was both categorized as a Mecha Anime, as it involves Robots. And soon after that a lot more Anime’s were introduced here in the Philippines and some of them became popular like, Dragon Ball, Sailormoon, to name a few. Then more Anime’s came from Japan, which were it originated. Yu Yu Hakusho (Ghost Fighter), Slam Dunk, Hunter X Hunter, Dear Boys, Gundam, Ranma 1/2, Love Hina, Ah! My Goddess (my personal favorite), Saber Marionette, Time Quest, and many more flooded the local commercial channels.

Anime are Japanese animations (read: cartoons) that mostly originated in Manga’s (Japanese comic books). There are many classifications of Anime’s, which targets different ages, and/or different criteria and types. Here are some of the types:

Shoujo manga/anime is targetted at junior or high school girls. Shoujo stories are usually based on the romantic development between characters, but with other plot elements and sub plots. Usually the main character is a girl but often it can be a couple or sometimes a young man.

Shounen manga/anime is for junior to high school boys. Usually more focus is set on action and fighting, though there is some room for character development.

Seinen stories are different again, with a varied target audience. Seinen manga usually revolves around a hobby such as a sport team. Seinen stories are usually less violent or sexual than other forms of manga.

Yaoi or also known as Slash manga are usually devoted to the relationship between males be it friendship or sexual. The readership is mainly female, as most have romantic elements.

Hentai Anime/Manga often is synonymous with animated pornography. Some hentai has room for a plot though for the most part this is merely to get to the sex. Much hentai is based on fetishism of some description.

As an Anime fan I also join Anime related forums. One such forum Anime Elites which I joined just recently, are one of the many new Anime forums with members based here in the Philippines.

I’m hoping to be active once again in the forum community. Not to mention I’m an Admin of three forums to-date.
