Marvel Studios, upcoming movies

Now for the next part of the continuing Marvel Universe.

The Incredible Hulk will first appear in theaters this June 13, starring Edward Norton as Bruce Banner. We all know how the story goes, scientist Bruce Banner was exposed to Gamma radiation and became the Hulk. That’s that. And now, for some things to watch out for in the movie.

  • The main villain Emil Blonsky (Tim Roth) who will eventually became Abomination after also being exposed to Gamma radiation.
  • The scientist Samuel Sterns (Tim Blake Nelson) appeared in the film. To Marvel fans, he will eventually became another one of Hulks nemesis named, The Leader (in the next film, maybe?). And you’ve probably guessed it how he turned into that. Exposed to Gamma radiation.
  • Dr. Leonard Samson (Ty Burrell) is Banner’s psychotherapist in the film. Who will eventually became Doc Samson (on the next film perhaps?), whose hair will become green and granting him superhuman strength proportionate to its length, reminiscent of his biblical namesake. Because of the, surprise surprise, exposure to yet another Gamma radiation.
  • Hulk co-creator Stan Lee was unable to fly to the Toronto shoot for his cameo appearance, although a pick-up may have been scheduled for him. Awww too bad…
  • And after the end credits? Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) makes his appearance. Only as Tony not as Iron Man.
  • And yet another Captain America reference, the Super-Soldier Serum.

And for the next batch after the jump.

2008

Punisher: War Zone, coming up this December 5. This is not a sequel or related to the previous movie. But we already know how the Punisher story goes.

2009

X-Men Origins: Wolverine. A solo-debut of Wolverine from the X-Men group. Tentative date is on May 1, 2009 which is another summer opening for next year. Will it reach Iron Man’s success this summer? I also wonder if S.H.I.E.L.D. will make another cameo appearance. Because as far as I know, Wolverine was one of the recruits of the agency.

Luke Cage (previously known as Power Man), is another recipient of a Super-Soldier serum, but with a different process and formula. Tentative release date is by the year 2009. Tyrese Gibson is reported to have taken the role of Luke.

2010

Iron Man 2 on April 30, 2010. Thor is said to make a cameo in Iron Man 2. Will we see another piece of Captain America on this film?

Thor in theaters by June 4, 2010. Rumors has it that Brad Pitt will assume the role of Thor Odinson. But this is just a rumor ok.

Spider-Man 4 by the year 2010. I hope so. Hulk or Wolverine should make a cameo here. Both of them did a team-up with Spidey.

2011

The First Avenger: Captain America coming on May 6, 2011. That’s 3 years from now. Another rumor includes Matthew McConaughey assuming the role of Steve Rogers. That doesn’t sound right. I have this feeling that on every Marvel/Avenger related film that will come up before Captain America, a piece related to his story will eventually show up. The shield on the Iron Man movie, and the Super-Soldier Serum on the Incredible Hulk movie. Another piece may show up on Iron Man 2 and Thor.

The Avengers, finally on July 2011. I really hope this film will get all the members from previous films before this. Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Thor. It doesn’t have any specific date, but they should go with July 4, for it is Independence Day.

Other Marvel Studios films that still have no release dates are:

  • Ant-Man. A member of the Avengers.
  • Black Panther. Rumored to first appear in the Fantastic Four (3?) sequel.
  • Deathlok. A half-human half machine cyborg.
  • Doctor Strange. A mystic arts master. If I remember correctly from my childhood memories, Strange was the one responsible for collecting the Midnight Sons, which includes Ghost Rider (Dan Ketch), Blade (and also his group members the Nightstalkers), the original Ghost Rider (Johnny Blaze), Vengeance, and the other heroes of the night.
  • Ghost Rider 2. I just hope they bring out the Midnight Sons together, and yes that includes Blade and the Nightstalkers. Another possible nemesis would be Lilith, since Dracula already appeared in Blade Trinity movie.
  • Magneto. According to some sources, the film’s story revolves around when Eric and Xavier, first met at a prison camp of some sort. Then first realizing their powers.
  • Nick Fury. You have seen him after the end credits of Iron Man.
  • Silver Surfer. Already seen in Fantastic Four 2. This would be great if he battle against the mighty Galactus (yup that cloud crap from F4 movie), or the titan Thanos.
  • Venom. In the, not so, recent story in Marvel, he is already considered as a hero. A possible battle between him and Carnage perhaps?
