I began learning to type was when I was still in elementary around early 90’s I suppose. Back then I use a, now ancient, piece of device called a typewriter. For a child the keys on that contraption is somewhat hard, but I still learned to use it properly. I didn’t have a typing lesson and that I didn’t follow the rules of alignment in typing. That is, each specific keys (letters/characters) on the keyboard have a designated finger for it. But hey even if I only use 6 or 7 fingers max while typing I still get the job done.

Fast forward to the early 2000’s. After I graduated from college, I applied for so many jobs. Each of my applications are different and somewhat not related to each other, aside from the fact that I’m a computer science graduate and I’m more into programming. In one occasion, a “call center” company called me for an interview. Back then call centers were still new and not the in-thing. Anyway, they gave us a lot of tests during the interview and one of that is the speed typing test.

It was run on a dos/linux like interface. The style of the test was if you got a wrong letter it won’t input on the screen so you don’t need to use backspace. And only one sentence are shown each batch of typing. I didn’t knew that back then as I’m used to pressing backspace every time I know I made a mistake in my input. After the test, the score I got was the minimum required to pass the test, it was 35 WPM (words per minute). Passing means getting 35-40 WPM. I passed, but eventually I turned down the offer coz the work is at night shift.

Today. I tried the typing test again. I already tried this a couple of months back when I was still at the office. I remember Bheng, tried this over and over to get a high score. Haha.

I took the test 5 times to get my average. My scores, 59-58-70-65-62 gets an average of 62.8. Not bad considering my scores are fluctuating, I wonder why. That’s pretty far when I started applying for a job more than 4 years ago. Anyhow, these tests only measures a couple of seconds to a minute. So if you are typing a lot of words for long periods, your WPM may change and fluctuate eventually.

I tried the quiz out, and what do you know I’m not totally Emo. Haha. Generally, the term Emo is interpreted differently in terms of what or how it is used.

Today (to be precise tomorrow Aug. 18), marks the 78th month that we’ve been together with my girlfriend. That’s 6 years and 6 months, minus the 6 months that we’ve broken up. I’ve already greeted her earlier today as we were having breakfast, before she went to work. I also told her that we should cancel our plans to go out today, and just do that tomorrow. Since she still have work tomorrow, I’ll just meet up with her after her work.

Addendum:
Finally I got my first batch of spam comments today, “Akismet has caught 34 spam for you since you first installed it.” I thought the plugin isn’t working coz I’ve already installed it since launching this version of my website two weeks ago. I’m still confused why so many spam comments arrived in a single day. And that, I don’t usually promote this blog to the world wide web, except to the specially selected blogs out there.

Ok so late last night my girlfriend texted me and said she was coming here at my home. As she got here, she told me her story. She left her home, why? Because she had a fight ‘again’ with her parents, and probably her younger brother as well. Anyway, she slept over here for a night. As usual I had to ‘hide’ her from my mom, which was already sleeping in her room. Good thing we have 2 doors and stairs going outside. Haha.

She said that she will look for someplace to rent for a while. But I convinced her to just stay here at our house. She’s now staying at the vacant room near my mom’s room. She can’t stay with me on my room, coz my mom’s a ‘conservative’ type of person. She even doesn’t know that I hide my girlfriend at my room for so many times over these past few years. Although it’s also ok for me that she’s staying at another room, so that she won’t interrupt my late night chatting sessions. She’s a ‘very’ jealous type of girl, and she doesn’t want me chatting (or even texting) with any of my female friends.

Anyway, she’s already fast asleep on the other room. I hope she’s comfortable there but if not, there’s always my room. Hehe. ^_^
